[3.1] SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

To enjoy TheNamec Retrogaming Packs you need to install:

[3.2] INSTALLATION

STEP 1: INSTALL AND CONFIG RETROARCH FRONTEND

  1. Download latest release from RetroArch official site (v.1.9.8 or later required)
  2. Install according to your Operative System

IMPORTANT: configure RetroArch for use with HSM Mega Bezel Reflection Shader:

  1. Main Menu -> Settings -> Video -> Output set Video to Vulkan (best performance)
  2. Main Menu -> Settings -> Video -> Scaling set Integer Scale to OFF
  3. Main Menu -> Settings -> Video -> Scaling set Aspect Ratio to FULL
  4. Main Menu -> settings -> Config set Save config on exit to ON
  5. Main Menu -> Restart RetroArch
  6. (after restart) Main Menu -> settings -> Config set back Save config on exit to OFF

ℹ️ Note: refer to Official Libretro Docs for updated Frontend Installation and Cores Installation step-by-step instructions for each supported OS.

STEP 2: INSTALL HSM MEGA BEZEL REFLECTION SHADER

  1. Download latest release from HSM Mega Bezel Reflection Shader (V_0.9.106_2022-03-24_Rev_1 or later required)
  2. Copy shader folder from the archive to RetroArch root
  3. You're done!

STEP 3: INSTALL THENAMEC MEGA BEZEL PACK

  1. Download latest release from TheNamec Retrogaming Packs (Release Candidate 2 or later required)
  2. Copy the pack folder from the archive to RetroArch root
  3. You're done!

ℹ️ *Note: you'll find my presets in the shaders/Mega_Bezel_Community/megabezel-commodore-pack

STEP 4: (OPTIONAL) INSTALL RETROARCH COMMODORE CORES

RetroArch requires specific plugins called cores to enable AMIGA, COMMODORE64 and VIC20 games:

Cores installation is easily done from within RetroArch interface.

Launch RetroArch and use the 'Core Downloader' tool to automatically install recommended cores: PUAE for Amiga, VICE_x64 for Commodore64 and VICE_xvic for VIC20/VC20:

  • Install and launch RetroArch
  • Main menu -> Online updater -> Core Downloader
  • Select your core of choice (PUAE, VICE_x64 and VICE_xvic)
  • RetroArch will download and install the core automatically

ℹ️ Note: AMIGA emulation requires copyrighted BIOS files with specific MD5 checksums. Please refer to PUAE Core Docs for more info and remember: Google is your friend 🔍

ℹ️ Note: you can use Mega Bezel Retrogaming Packs with any core, but it would be quite sacrilegious to play a Mario Bros game with a Commodore64 graphics preset, isn't it? 👾

[3.3] LOAD A PRESET

You can easily load a pre-made preset for an hassle-free experience:

  • Launch a game
  • Quick Menu -> Shaders -> Load Shader Preset -> shaders_slang -> bezel -> thenamec -> choose a platform -> choose a preset
  • Wait a couple seconds for the preset to load and... bam! You're done.
  • Quick Menu -> Resume and enjoy enhanced gaming

  1. I'm confused about Step 3. Which folder in the download is to be copied where? The main folders are presets and res.

  2. Please follow instructions included in latest RC4.1 commodore pack as we did some changes to the folders structure to hold all graphic packs from different authors in the same 'community' folder. Let me know if it works ;)
